Translations by Brian Friel at Dungarvan Town Hall Theatre

This November, Dungarvan Town Hall Theatre welcomes Dungarvan Dramatic Club for a four-night production of Brian Friel’s Translations.

Set in late August 1833, the play unfolds in a hedge school in the townland of Baile Beag, an Irish-speaking community in County Donegal. Against this backdrop, Friel explores language, identity, power, and the human cost of empire.

Rich in history, humour and humanity, Translations is one of Friel’s best-known works, offering a thoughtful exploration of communication, culture and belonging.

Directed by Margaret Dennehy, the production runs from 17th to 20th November, giving audiences four opportunities to experience this acclaimed play in the intimate setting of Dungarvan Town Hall Theatre.
