Build your confidence on the water with powerboat training courses at Dunmore Adventure, where expert-led sessions teach essential boat handling and safety skills for Irish waters.
Level 1 – Introduction to Powerboating
Running with the guidelines and criteria of the Irish Sailing Association(ISA), the governing body of powerboating in Ireland, Dunmore Adventure courses are designed to ensure you are confident to handle your powerboat in varying conditions in Irish coastal waters. All courses are run on demand and can be scheduled to suit your needs.
This course is ideally suited to those new to powerboating and those whose primary role will be as crew on a powerboat. By the end of the course, participants will safely and effectively be able to crew a powerboat and take the helm under supervision.
Level 2 – National Powerboat Certificate
The aim of this 2-day course is to develop the skills and knowledge that allow participants to safely and effectively skipper an open powerboat by day, on inland and coastal waters with which they are familiar.
Many powerboat courses offer either tiller or console certification with their National Powerboat Certificate Courses, but at Dunmore Adventure, you are trained in both types of steering. Participants in this course should have some boat handling experience prior to the course.
Level 3 – Safety Boat Certificate
The 2-day Safety Boat Certificate Course is designed to teach the skills and knowledge required for those working in environments where they will be providing safety cover to boats, water users and swimmers.
The aim of the Safety Boat course is to introduce candidates to the techniques, skills, equipment and communications whilst ensuring that persons have the knowledge and skill to take charge of powerboats involved in escorting racing fleets, providing safety cover for training fleets and water activities within local communities, and assisting in race management duties.
To qualify for a place on the Safety Boat Course, participants must hold the Irish Sailing National Powerboat Certificate or an equivalent certificate and 20 hours of driving experience following qualification.
