Maxime Zecchini – The Left Hand at Christ Church Cathedral
Experience an extraordinary evening of piano music at Christ Church Cathedral as internationally acclaimed French pianist Maxime Zecchini brings The Left Hand: A Journey Across Five Continents to Waterford.
One of the world’s leading specialists in music written for the left hand alone, Zecchini takes audiences on a musical journey through Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa and Oceania, exploring a remarkable repertoire created entirely for one hand.
Through inventive compositions, the left hand produces an astonishingly full and expressive sound, often creating the illusion of two hands at the keyboard. The programme moves through a rich variety of musical styles, rhythms and cultural influences, culminating in a special transcription of Ravel’s Concerto for the Left Hand, showcasing the remarkable range and power of this unique repertoire.
A graduate of the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and the Accademia di Imola in Italy, Maxime Zecchini has performed in more than 80 countries, including at Carnegie Hall in New York and the Philharmonie de Paris. He is also the first pianist to record a ten-volume anthology dedicated to works for the left hand.
