Spraoi International Street Arts Festival 2026

Waterford City will come alive with colour, creativity, and spectacle as the Spraoi International Street Arts Festival returns from Friday, 31st July to Sunday, 2nd August 2026.

Taking place across the city’s streets and public spaces, Spraoi brings together Irish and international artists for a packed weekend of outdoor performance. Visitors can expect an exciting mix of contemporary circus, dance, live music, physical theatre, comedy, walkabout entertainment, and interactive installations, with performances suitable for audiences of all ages.

Spectacle, Music, and Movement

This year’s programme will transform familiar city spaces in unexpected ways. Spectacular circus productions will feature towering bamboo structures, tightrope artists, acrobatics, and daring physical feats, while outdoor dance performances will explore themes of memory, identity, community, and change. Audiences may also encounter roaming card tables, inflatable characters, eccentric hotel porters, and rebellious theatrical troublemakers as they make their way through the city.

Music will play a major part in the festivities, from the powerful rhythms of Japanese Taiko drumming and energetic brass performances to Indian-inspired roaming musicians and an extraordinary one-man band operating through a network of strings and pulleys.

There will also be plenty of humour throughout the weekend. Expect contemporary clowning, slapstick, absurd live music, tiny bicycles, unusual funeral demonstrations, and wonderfully chaotic street theatre. Interactive performances and installations will invite audiences to join in, make a wish, take part in the action or simply pause and experience the city from a different perspective.
