Christmas Calligraphy Workshop at the Bishop’s Palace

Add a personal touch to your Christmas this year with a festive Calligraphy Workshop at the Bishop’s Palace, led by curator Rosemary Ryan, Keeper of the Bishop’s Palace.

Inspired by historic manuscripts, letters and decorative traditions, this hands-on workshop will introduce participants to the basics of calligraphy in the beautiful surroundings of Waterford’s Bishop’s Palace.

During the session, you’ll learn simple calligraphy techniques while creating your own personalised Christmas cards, gift tags, and festive keepsakes to take home.

Suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some previous experience, the workshop combines creativity, history, and seasonal inspiration in a relaxed, enjoyable setting.

All pens and materials will be supplied.

Dates: Tuesday, 8th of December and Thursday, 10th of December, 2026

Time: 11 am – 12.30 pm

Location: The Bishop’s Palace, Waterford City
