Situated within the old Courthouse Building in the heart of Lismore town, Lismore Heritage Centre was opened in 1992 to share insights into Lismore’s formidable history and heritage. Boasting a picturesque location at the foot of the Knockmealdown Mountains, Lismore is famous for the magnificent Lismore Castle (dating back to 1185) that was once the home of the famous Broadway performer, Adele Astaire and Kathleen Kennedy, sister of John F. Kennedy. Inside this private residence can only be viewed using the Lismore Castle Experience.

Lismore Castle Experience 360

Your guide will bring you through the curtain where you will be immersed in the history of Lismore Castle using modern-day technology. Virtually tour the beautiful rooms and halls of the Castle and listen to the story of Lismore’s most famous faces who have graced its halls throughout the years, narrated to you by world-famous scientist, Robert Boyle. You’ll also hear about the incredible discovery of the priceless artefacts, the Book of Lismore and the Lismore Crozier that were secreted
away and forgotten about for over 200 years. A local guide will also be on hand to answer any questions the group may have.

Lismore Guided Town Tour

Here at Lismore Heritage Centre we offer a wide range of guided tours. Our guided tour daily @2pm is proven to be very popular. We also offer a different themed guided tour Monday to Friday. Step back in time as your guide brings you through the streets of Lismore, learn the history of this beautiful heritage town. Or for the more adventurous why not choose one of our guided themed tours which can be viewed on our official website.

Robert Boyle Escape Room

Suitable for all ages and fun for all the family, find the clues, crack the codes and get out of the room in 60 minutes or less, can YOU escape? Our Escape Room is available daily at a variety of times. While being named after Lismore’s own world-famous chemist, Robert Boyle, our escape room theme changes frequently. Did You Know

The Lismore Heritage Centre is home to an escape room inspired by Robert Boyle, the famous 17th-century scientist born in Lismore, who is best known for Boyle’s Law—a fundamental principle in physics. It’s one of the only heritage centres in Ireland that uses an escape room to teach science!
