The Heritage of Kilmoslash Church and Graveyard
Discover the rich history of Kilmolash Church and Graveyard as a special outdoor Heritage Week talk taking place in Kilmolash, Cappoquin, on Wednesday, 19th of August, from 7 pm to 8.30 pm.
Led by archaeologist John Tierney, the talk will explore the heritage of this historic church, its association with St Molaise and the traditions connected with his local feast day on the 17th of January.
Kilmolash also lies along Cosán na Naomh, or the Path of the Saints, traditionally known as St Declan’s Way. This historic route linked Ardmore, associated with the pre-Patrician saint St Declan, with Lismore, a town closely connected to St Carthage, also known as Mochuda.
The event will offer visitors an opportunity to learn more about the religious, archaeological and cultural significance of this atmospheric historic site.
As the talk will take place outdoors in a graveyard with uneven ground, visitors are advised to wear sturdy footwear and suitable outdoor clothing.
