Comeraghs Wild Festival: An Evening of Song & Story at Woodhouse Estate, Stradbally

Set within the intimate surroundings of the Estate’s historic walled garden, this early evening concert offers a truly special open-air music experience.

As the light begins to soften and the day gently fades into evening, Woodhouse Estate’s walled garden will come alive with song, storytelling and soaring harmonies — creating a magical setting for a memorable night of live music.

Leading the line-up are The Backyard Band, a dynamic five-piece featuring three former members of the much-loved group Tweed. With Brendan Ryder (vocals/guitar), Dave Hallissey (sax, harmonica and vocals), Gay Brazel (guitar and vocals), Mick Grace (drums/vocals) and Peter Dowley (bass and vocals), the band has been writing, recording and performing across the South East since 2019.

Renowned for their energy, musicianship and rich vocal harmonies, The Backyard Band bring a crowd-pleasing mix of classic favourites, much-loved Tweed songs and original material. Festival favourites in their own right, they’ve previously headlined The Comeraghs Wild Festival and return by popular demand in 2026. Regulars at Kilkenny Roots Festival and Dunmore East Bluegrass Festival, their set promises heart, soul and plenty of singalong moments under the open sky.

Also taking to the stage are the exceptional White Horse Guitar Club — a collective of musical storytellers, where eleven voices come together as one. What began as a rainy evening gathering in a pub in Ballincollig, Co. Cork in 2012 has grown into something truly remarkable, with sold-out tours, millions of online views, and even a special performance for President Michael D. Higgins and Sabina Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin.

Formed following an open call by founder Joe Carey at The White Horse pub, the group has evolved from a casual circle of songs and stories into one of Ireland’s most distinctive musical ensembles. Built on friendship, camaraderie and a shared love of storytelling, they are celebrated for their rich harmonies and moving interpretations of folk, Americana and traditional Irish music. Eleven guitars and voices in unison may sound unlikely, but in performance, it’s nothing short of captivating.
