The Churchyard Sessions – FREE Live Music in the Heart of Waterford
Welcome to The Churchyard Sessions, a unique live music series in Waterford City taking place in the historic setting of Waterford’s Viking Triangle. Set against the stunning backdrop of the 13th-century French Church (Greyfriars Abbey), these open-air sessions bring together Ireland’s most exciting emerging and established musical acts for unforgettable evenings of culture, community, and ‘craic’.

What Are The Churchyard Sessions?
The Churchyard Sessions Waterford are a series of free outdoor live music events taking place every Saturday (and selected Fridays) throughout the summer months. Hosted in the picturesque grounds of Greyfriars, right next to The Reg, these sessions celebrate local Irish music, indie bands, folk artists, and more, turning the historic churchyard into a buzzing venue for music lovers in Waterford.

The Churchyard Sessions are proudly hosted by The Reg Waterford, one of the city’s top venues for nightlife, live entertainment, and great food. From pre-gig food & pints to post-session cocktails, The Reg is the perfect place to make a full night of it. Email bookings@thereg.ie to book a pre-gig meal. We recommend booking in for around 5PM if you want to make the most of the free live music!
2026 Churchyard Sessions Schedule
The Churchyard Sessions return for summer 2026 with an exciting programme of live music, running from May 16th to September 9th. Across 17 consecutive Saturdays and 6 selected Fridays, the series brings a packed schedule of free performances to the heart of Waterford’s Viking Triangle.
Each evening features support acts from 6.30 pm, with headliners taking to the stage from 8 pm. This year’s line-up includes a mix of standout local and national talent, with names such as Toucan, Mad Ferritt, Blessed, Rugged Little Pill, The Papa Zitas, and many more set to perform.
Expect a lively, welcoming atmosphere and plenty of summer energy – perfect for everything from casual evenings out to staff nights, date nights, or soaking up the buzz of the city.
