Waterford Festival of Food takes place between 19th-21st April, the three-day festival is every foodie’s dream, offering a range of events from cooking demos to foraging walks, located in the town of Dungarvan, overlooking the harbour.

The events cater for all age groups and highlight the extent of what Waterford and its surrounding areas have to offer in terms of local food and entertainment.

To widen your knowledge on the production and processes of local produce sink your teeth into some of the many food and drink demos, including Blackwater Distillery Cocktail Masterclass, Beers and Boccas with Dungarvan Brewing Company and The Kitchen Table Talks at Currans Store.

The festival focuses on all thing’s food related, with health and wellness taking centre stage for events such as Sunrise yoga sauna and breakfast, hill-walking in the Comeraghs and seaweed discovery shore walks, ensuring the opportunity for further discovery of Dungarvan and a deep appreciation for all that the land has to offer.

If the music and arts scene is more to your taste, look out for events such as Deirdre O’Kane’s Comedy Club, a jazz brunch at the Interlude restaurant or even an evening at the Burlesque Cabaret.

While many of the events are ticketed, there are also a great variety of free events like, a dog show in Walton Park, Waterford Festival of Food Bake-off, Beeswax Wrap making workshops and a Kitchens through time appliance exhibition.

On both Saturday and Sunday, the festival will host a vibrant food market. Saturday’s market will take place in Davitt’s Quay from 10am with over 40 stalls, followed by the Festival Market on Sunday, with over 80 stalls featuring local food and artisan craft products in Grattan Square. Dungarvan’s AndChips by Eunice Power will also be on hand to ensure festival goers are well fed with fresh fish and chip favourites.

For families in search of events to keep everyone entertained look no further than Dungarvan Castle which will play host to a visit from Nore Valley Farm, a choice between a ukulele workshop or story time with Kitty Caboodle as well as a range of kid-friendly cooking demos.

If you’re interested in a slightly more luxurious option, there are plenty of extravagant dining experiences available around Dungarvan in line with the Food Festival. To mention a few, The Tannery Spanish Feast focusing on the tastes of Spain, The Godfather Night at Fuller’s Bistro in Lismore, serving all the dishes featured in the well-known film and Afternoon Tea at the beautiful Georgian style Ballyin House.
