Woodstown beach
Woodstown Strand is a long stretch of sandy beach backed by private woodland. The beach is located on the banks of the wide estuary carved by the River Suir making it a sheltered spot.
This also means the sand slopes very gently and when the tide is out a large flat beach is exposed.
Woodstown is one of the most popular beaches in the area, particularly with families. It is a great spot for kids and is ideal for picnics.
There is plenty of good walking here; either along the beach or in the countryside beyond.
The ancient Harristown passage tomb is also situated nearby.
The beach is situated just under 13km from Waterford City; take the main Dunmore East Road out of the City, and then follow the signposts to Woodstown.
