After stints in the Stormont Hotel in Belfast and La Cave in Dublin, it was onto Devlin’s Restaurant in Boston where he honed his skills fusing his classical French training with modern techniques. The result was a repertoire of modern classic dishes which he then brought to the kitchens of Viewmount House when he returned to Ireland over ten years ago.

This style of food saw Gary named Food & Wine Magazine’s ‘Best Chef Leinster 2016’, RAI ‘Best Chef Leinster 2014 & 2017’, The Georgina Campbell ‘Restaurant of the Year’ recipient, culminating in the prestigious Georgina Campbell ‘Hospitality Hero Award 2018’ for services to Irish Food.

homegrown is GIY’s new series of seasonal long-table dinners at GROW HQ featuring visiting chefs who share our GROW COOK EAT ethos. The event showcases their talents and gets them to build on the HQ story by delivering a very special seasonal feast for just 55 diners.  Chefs taking over the HQ kitchen and garden in the months ahead include Gastro Gays (Patrick Hanlon & Russell Alford), Derry Clarke, Enda McEvoy, Gary O’Hanlon, Gaz Smith, the Currabinny Boys (James Kavanagh & William Murray) and Katie Sanderson.
